Kindergarten Guidance

Week 6. The Inspiration Wall (Diversity).

This week, students are introduced to the idea of the "Inspiration Wall", a place where they can hang things that inspire them, whether it be pictures they draw or work they are proud of.

Week 1. Introduction.

Student have the opportunity to get to know the School Counselor while learning about the rules to follow during guidance lessons.

Week 2. Life Before Kindergarten.

Students will explore how school behavior is different from behavior at home, daycare or preschool as well as what they can do when they don't understand what to do at school.

 

 

 

Week 3. Life In Kindergarten.

The School Counselor will lead a follow-up discussion/activity with students regarding what is expected of them in Kindergarten.

Week 4. Body Basics.

Students will demonstrate their understanding of Body Basics by successfully performing actions written in visual format on flash cards presented by the School Counselor.

Week 7. How Does A Friend Act?

Students will explore the differences between good friends and bad friends utilizing puppets.

Week 5. The Envelope Guessing Game.

Students will learn what happens when a student does not do what is expected of them at school with the help of a mystery envelope activity.

Week 8. How Do I Act Like A Friend?

Students will role play scenarios to demonstrate how to be a friend.

Week 9. How We Are Alike And Different.

Students will demonstrate their understanding of similarities and differences by playing a lining up game.

Week 10. Feeling Faces.

Students will discuss basic feelings in themselves and learn how they can tell what others are feeling.

Week 11. Inspiration Wall (Thankfulness).

Students will create contributions for the school's "Inspiration Wall".

Week 12. Special Topic: Game Day.

Today students will have the opportunity to demonstrate all of the skills they have learned about making and keeping friends, understanding others and appropriate school behavior by participating in a game day.
